Freedom24 has opened its proprietary brokerage infrastructure, Tradernet, to AI applications through an integration based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

The integration allows customers to connect their brokerage accounts to AI tools including Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. Through the MCP integration, customers can access selected brokerage capabilities using natural-language instructions, including portfolio information, market quotations and historical data, orders and trade history, reports, and price and event alerts.

MCP is an open protocol that standardizes how AI applications connect to external tools and data. Its role is to provide a standardized connection through which AI applications can interact with selected external capabilities and data.

For financial services, this creates new possibilities for how customers can access information and authorized financial functions. Rather than relying exclusively on individual applications as the interface to financial services, customers could increasingly use AI applications to interact with underlying financial infrastructure.

“The important development is not simply that an AI can answer a question about a portfolio,” said Vitaliy Zvonar, Chief Product Officer at Freedom24. “It is that financial capabilities can increasingly become accessible through intelligent interfaces. We see this as an important step in preparing financial infrastructure for a world in which AI agents become part of how customers interact with financial services.”

Part of a broader European financial-services strategy

The MCP integration forms part of Freedom's broader technology strategy as the company develops infrastructure that could support a more connected financial-services offering in Europe.

Freedom is already engaged in the banking license acquisition process in Europe as it considers expanding its offering beyond investment services. The company has also outlined ambitions to develop a broader financial ecosystem around its brokerage business. As the range of financial services expands, the ability to connect those services through common technology infrastructure and new customer interfaces becomes increasingly important.

The strategy builds on the wider Freedom SuperApp model operated by Freedom Holding Corp. in Kazakhstan, the Group's largest market, where banking, payments, investing, insurance, telecommunications, e-commerce and other services are brought together within a broader digital ecosystem.

In this context, the MCP integration represents an early step toward making selected financial capabilities accessible through a common technology layer, allowing AI applications to interact with financial services while maintaining customer authorization and control.

AI access with customer control

Connecting AI applications to financial infrastructure requires particular attention to authorization and customer control because AI systems can potentially interact with information and functions that have direct financial consequences.

Freedom's current MCP implementation is therefore designed with explicit limitations. Trading actions require customer confirmation, while transfers and withdrawals are not available through MCP. API credentials remain under the customer's control rather than being stored by the connector.

Tradernet, together with Freedom's AI capabilities and Neo Compliance technology, is developed in-house, giving the company control over the infrastructure connecting its investment services, technology and operational environment.
